As assistant director, Angela Chang works alongside Narayan Khandekar in the administration of the Straus Center. Chang played an integral role in implementing best practices in preventive conservation for the reinstallation of art in the renovated Harvard Art Museums. Before the renovation, she was a part of the Straus Center’s project team for the conservation and study of John Singer Sargent’s murals at the Boston Public Library. Her research interests include preventive conservation, artist interviews, the materials and techniques of ancient Chinese jades in the museums’ Grenville L. Winthrop Collection, and the 13th-century Japanese polychrome wood sculpture Prince Shōtoku at Age Two (99.1979.1).
